THE GEORGE PUBLIC HOUSE FLYOVER
Colas, on behalf of Portsmouth City Council, will be carrying out Parapet and Crash Barrier works at The George Public House flyover.
When are the works taking place and what will be done?
The works will include parapet replacement, installation of safety barriers, and trief kerbing with pedestrian guard railing. The public footpath on the south-east grass area side will also be extended. There will be no work on Wednesday 5th June.
The works will start on Monday 3rd June 2019 and will take up to 9 weeks to complete, weather permitting. The work will be completed in 3 phases. Working hours will be 07:30 — 19:00. Temporary two-way signals will be in place 24/7 and be manually controlled at peak times. London Road slip road will be closed from Portsdown Hill Road to London Road. On 3 separate occasions there will be a night closure to complete temporary barrier works. Notices will be in place 14 days prior to each closure.
Our working hours will be 19:30pm-5:30am. There will be no weekend working.
What impact will it have on me?
There will be a two-way traffic light system in place on the flyover, footway closures and lane closures throughout the works. Diversions for vehicles and pedestrians will be signposted. Two-way signals will be manually controlled at peak times.
Road users are advised to expect some delays. Please allow extra time for journeys.

Q. Why are you doing this?
A. We are contracted to maintain the structures in the city and the George Public House Flyover will be inspected as part of our continuing maintenance programme.
Q. Will the work be noisy?
A. Some elements of the work will be noisy however we will take all steps to keep it to a minimum.
Q. Will this affect the bus route?
A. Portsdown Hill Bus Stop (eastbound) will be closed for the duration of the works. The next available bus stop is located outside Hoylake Road on Portsdown Hill Road. Bus number 7 and number 20 will be affected with diversions up London Road to Ladybridge Road Roundabout when Boundary Way is closed.
